Once a year great Canadian musicians give their time to support the families of the Red Door.
This years event took place on Wednesday, November 18th, 2009 at the The Mod Club.

2009 Line Up
Adam Solomon - 2005 Juno Award Winner for Best World Music Album of the Year. This multi-instrumentalist sings in 6 languages + controls the guitar effortlessly, fusing Mississippi Delta blues with a wide variety of traditional + modern African rhythms.

Chris Whiteley - 6 Juno Award Nominations, Jazz Report Blues Album of the Year, Maple Blues Awards Horn Player of the Year + SOCAN Songwriter of the Year.
Hannah Georgas - With infectious + spellbinding melodies, this quirky + whimsical Vancouver-based singer/songwriter opens up her heart + soul with her music + seizes those pure moments you only wish you could describe.
Madison Violet (aka Madviolet)- "Poised for greatness...exquisite harmonies". Winnipeg Free Press Their newest CD is receiving rave reviews in Europe, spins on national radio in Denmark, Germany + BBC 1 in the UK. It is in the Top 5 on the iTunes singer/songwriter section. #3 in the Mojo Playlist - Mojo's Top 10.
Lentic - the new “folktronica” project by Ember Swift, is folk + world meets electronic + groove: Chinese traditional instrumentation takes the hand of Western song structure + leads it to the dance floor. English + Mandarin mingle.
Major Maker - Lighthearted indie rockers with retro-cool. CBC's 2008 Galaxie Rising Stars Award winners. Their wildly popular "Rollercoaster" + "All I Wanna Do", which aired on commercials for Maynard's Candy + Telus cellular phones, generated dizzying blogosphere buzz, mainstream attention and a licensing deal with EMI Canada.
Organizers Marysia Czarski and Sharon Ross have produced this fantastic annual event as a labour of love. Neither of them receive any compensation for work on this project.
In addition, all of the musicians at theOpen Door Festival of Music perform free of charge so that the proceeds of the event can go to help the work of the Red Door. The festival is truly a grassroots endeavour, supporting local musical talent as well as reaching out to help those struggling with homelessness in our city.
The total funds raised from the Open Door exceed $40,000 in support of the services and programs offered to families in crisis.
