The Red Door is pleased to announce the great success of our first Speakers Series event.
The first Speakers Series luncheon took place on November 26th, 2008 and was hosted by Tappo Wine Bar and Restaurant in the Distillery District. The Speakers Series is organized by two amazing Red Door volunteers Christine Allison and Talia Rovinski who, after attending a tour of the shelter, were inspired to make a difference by raising awareness of the issues affecting families living in poverty.
The first event was hosted by acclaimed actress Leah Pinsent and the key note speaker was noted journalist and author Susan McClelland and she discussed the importance of storytelling in our society as a means of making people aware of the important issues that happen in their communities every day.
This event was incredibly successful and raised over $12,000 dollars to support the hundreds of families who come to the Red Door each year.
Thank you to everyone who helped to make this event such a great success.
