The inability to find affordable housing in Toronto is one of the main reasons that families seek emergency shelter and stay with us for an average of 5 months. In 2018-19, 45% of families we served had experienced a housing crisis or eviction.
For Sean Gadon, the City of Toronto’s Director of Affordable Housing, this issue has been a lifelong cause. Here in this picture, Sean is speaking in support of the new development including our purpose-built family shelter at our community meeting, July 2015. Sean will retire from a 40-year career later this month. You can read about it in this Toronto Star article.
