This blog chronicles the journey from 2014 when our 106-bed family shelter was threatened with closure after 32 years in operation, to today with a new family shelter under construction and set to open in Spring 2020.
There have been many milestones and emotional moments on the journey to securing the future of the family shelter. The fight to Save the Red Door. The Community of Hope campaign. The construction of a purpose-built family shelter.
This is a historic occasion. The Red Door family shelter will be back at its original site as part of a new, mixed-use development. The purpose-built shelter will provide the safety, dignity and privacy that homeless families desperately need and deserve.
Each blog post will highlight a special moment of the journey towards opening our new Community of Hope family shelter. I hope you enjoy reading each post.
