Holiday Giving

This holiday season you can make a difference for families in need.  Your gifts, toiletries, and gift cards make all the difference!

Deadline:

Donations received by December 13th will be distributed before December 25th, 2019.  Gifts received after December 13th will be distributed to families in early 2020.

What our families need:

The needs at the shelters can change so it is best to contact us to ensure that we are able to accept your donation. If you would like to donate items to the Red Door, please contact our In-Kind Coordinator at 416-915-5671 ext. 234 or via email at inkind@reddoorshelter.ca

    As of October 24, 2019, we will only be accepting the following items:

  • New Household Items: toasters, microwaves, dish sets, cups, mugs, blenders, cutlery, etc.
  • New sheets and towels
  • New Baby Items: baby clothing, baby baths, baby shampoo & conditioner, baby lotion, baby wipes, diapers sizes 2T-3T, 3T-4T, 4T-5T, and sizes 1-6.
    • Gift baskets for new mothers (unisex arrangements if possible).
  • New Toiletries (Full Size): shampoo & conditioner, body wash, kids and adult toothpaste & toothbrushes, deodorant, etc.
  • Winter Clothing for all ages, sizes, and gender
    • Winter coats/jackets and boots can be new or gently used; Winter Accessories (e.g. hats, gloves/mittens, scarfs, socks) must be new
  • New Toys: more focus for ages 6-12 boys and girls
  • Non-perishable food or Food Vouchers for our shelter food banks ($25, $50, or $100 denominations from No Frills, Food Basics, FreshCo, Metro, or Loblaws).
    • Our biggest needs of non-perishable foods are:
      • Canned Food (Pasta Sauce, Green Beans, Sweet Corn, Baked Beans without pork)
      • Rice, Pasta, Macaroni & Cheese
      • Instant Coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolate
      • Cereal, Hot Cereal
      • Flour, Sugar
      • Ketchup

Please Note: We cannot accept used toys, child cribs, change tables, car seats, play pens, stuffed animals, used undergarments, high-chairs, used books, VHS movies, used computer equipment, and items that are broken or in need of repair.

Gift Cards:

Gift Cards are a versatile option that allow families to choose their own presents. These are our suggested gift amounts based on family size:

  • Single adult: $100
  • Single parent & 1 child: $150
  • Single parent & 2 children: $200
  • Single parent & 3 children, or parents with 2 children: $250
  • Single parent & 4 children, or parents with 3 children: $300
  • Single parent & 5 children, or parents with 4 children: $350
  • Single parent & 6 children, or parents with 5 children: $400

How to donate:

Complete our Non-Monetary Gift donation form - our Donation Coordinator will contact you to confirm your donation and arrange a drop-off time. Please Note: only items on this list will be accepted. Also, you must call ahead to ensure that we are able to accept your donation at 416-915-5671 ext. 234.

Drop-off Times: Monday through Friday – 9am to 5pm

Drop-off Location: 21 Carlaw Avenue, Toronto, ON  M4M 2R6  (Intersection: Carlaw Ave & Lakeshore Blvd East)

Please Note: We do not provide tax receipts for non-monetary donations.
