This Holiday, You Can Help Us Help Families
Fleeing an abusive relationship without a dollar to her name, pregnant, and with two young children in tow — that was when we first met Iris.
“He used to laugh at me and tell me that I could never leave because I couldn’t survive without him,” recalls Iris. “Finally, I got brave and arrived cold and lonely at the Red Door.”
The holidays are not a time of peace and joy for those who live with domestic abuse. Whether it be birthdays, anniversaries, or celebrations, domestic violence does not take a break.
“Staff at the Red Door gave me such sincere friendship. When I was living with my abuser, I would wake up in the morning not knowing what to expect. I never felt that fear here. I had forgotten what it felt like to feel safe.”
Iris and her children are just one of the 70 families who came to us last year. It is because of caring donors, like you, that we can offer families the sanctuary and support they need to heal as they build a brighter future.
Making a donation this holiday season will help families like Iris's find safety and the promise of a brighter future at the Red Door.
