It has come to our recent attention that an individual has been fraudulently canvassing the North York, and Dundas West/Runnymede neighbourhoods door-to-door selling chocolate bars claiming to represent Red Door. We want to clarify that this individual does not represent Red Door and is unfortunately misleading the community. If you encounter an individual claiming to be fundraising for Red Door, please email fundraising@reddoorshelter.ca
To all Red Door Supporters,
Thank you for standing up with us and condemning anti-Black and anti-Indigenous racism. Your ongoing support of the critical services provided by Red Door Family Shelter allows us to provide inclusive and crucial services to the many homeless families who are personally impacted by the visible and invisible violence of racism.
Updated June 4th, 2020
Ontario has extended the provincial Declaration of Emergency until June 30th in response to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak. The Red Door Family Shelter remains committed to the health, safety and wellbeing of our clients, staff and community as we go through this challenging time together.
We continue to provide emergency shelter for homeless families and for women and children escaping domestic abuse. We are also serving outreach clients, who are former residents building new lives in their own homes.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic affects us all, many of you have reached out asking how you can help our families. We are deeply appreciative of your thoughtfulness and welcome your support.
There are 3 ways you can have an immediate impact:
A resident and her children moved into interim accommodations yesterday, April 2, that provides her enhanced privacy and the ability to self-isolate. This was a planned move as it had become apparent that our shelter was not equipped to meet the complexity of her needs. This is not a decision we take lightly. We are collaborating with the city to find her more suitable long-term accommodations and we are confident she and her children will be taken care of.
We're thrilled to share our new text-to-give campaign which has been launched in a variety of resto-bars throughout the city to raise funds for our programs that help families at our shelter recover from homelessness and abuse.
Thank you so much to the amazing team who generously volunteered their creative talent & resources to make this campaign possible:
Enercare Inc. proudly announced today a partnership with Red Door Family Shelter to support families and individuals in need of a fresh start. The Enercare Fresh Start Program provides simple necessities and small luxuries that make it easier for families to get back on their feet.
