Take our Legacy Giving Survey

Did you know that only 7% of Canadians put Charity in their Will, but 34% would if asked?

We’re establishing a legacy society at Red Door and we’ll be asking people to remember Red Door with a bequest in their Will.  We need your advice to help us develop this society.

You can help by completing this four minute survey to provide us with your thoughts and feedback.

Thank you!

City Council Votes to secure the future of the Red Door!

Today, City Council voted unanimously to approve Councillor Paula Fletcher’s motion to help secure the long-term future of the Red Door Shelter.

This is a major accomplishment and would not have been possible without the outpouring of support from our entire community and the more than 50,000 supporters who signed the Save the Red Door petition, presented at City Council this morning.

Red Door Threatened by Condo Development

Our shelter for homeless families is being threatened. The real estate developer , Rose and Thistle who were working with us on a project for a new shelter has now left our long-term home at 875 Queen St. East in receivership and owes us $50,000.  Now, the receiver is planning to sell the site to another developer. Neither group has provided us concrete plans about our future. They plan to develop condos on our site.

Thank you again to all of the Kids in the Kitchen volunteers for bringing this wonderful program to Red Door.  We look forward to working with you on an ongoing basis!

Our most sincere thanks to MERCK, STAPLES and BMO....

One of our biggest needs throughout the year is non-perishable items for our food bank and many Corporate groups host food drives in support of Red Door Shelter.  Many of these groups also offer their assistance to our Housing and Outreach team on a regular food bank day.  Larger groups are often able to help out in the food bank as well as other areas of the shelter including the donation rooms and the kitchen.

Our Make Some Change Drive reaches it's goal!

Our Make Some Change Drive has reached it's goal!  With the help of a generous gift from new friends of the Red Door Ali Murat and Ozlem Gocek, we've reached our goal of raising $500, which will enable us to provide an abused mother and her children with a safety plan and legal support so that they will be safe from harm, and can begin to build a brighter future. Thank you so much to everyone who participated and donated!
