This Mother's Day, remember the mothers who need help

From the May 8th edition of the National Post:
In 2008, according to Statistics Canada, 4,273 women spent Mother's Day in a Canadian shelter. In a given year, Canada's shelters support over 100,000 different women and children, the largest demographic of homeless individuals by far. Many of these women are mothers who have struggled to make a safer future for their children and each one of them deserves to be honoured this Mother's Day for their extraordinary strength and courage.

Providing Shelter Since 1982

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Red Door Family Shelter. In response to increasing family homelessness at that time, the WoodGreen United Church founded the Red Door Family Shelter which opened its doors to 28 homeless people in December 1982 on Queen Street East. The agency was incorporated in 1983 as a non-profit charitable organization, providing emergency shelter and support to families.
